Terms of Service

Last updated: 6 October 2026

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

These terms are an agreement between you and Flying Pictures Laser Show Systems (ABN 81 394 284 413), trading as Flying Pictures (“we”, “us”). They cover your use of the AU/NZ Entertainment Laser Safety Officer (LSO) training course, the Operator Induction course and related pages at lsocourse.zone.net.au and lasers.co.nz. By creating an account, paying for a course or using the site, you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy and our Refund Policy.

2. Account registration

  • You must be 18 or older to purchase a course.
  • You must provide accurate information — your name appears on your certificate and must match your photo ID.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity on your account.
  • One account per person. Accounts and enrolments are non-transferable.
  • You must verify your email address before accessing course content.

3. Courses, pricing and access

  • LSO Certification costs $80 AUD, charged once at enrolment. It is not a subscription and does not renew automatically.
  • The Operator Induction course is currently free. We may change prices at any time; a price change never affects a course you have already paid for.
  • All prices are in Australian dollars. Purchases made through lsocourse.zone.net.au include GST. Purchases made through lasers.co.nz are for customers outside Australia and are GST-free. If you buy through lasers.co.nz, you confirm you are outside Australia.
  • Enrolment gives you access to the course materials for 24 months from the date of purchase. After that you may buy a new enrolment to continue.
  • Module 1 of each course is available without registration as a free preview.
  • Course content may be updated at any time to reflect changes in standards, regulations or best practice.
  • Coupon codes reduce the price you pay, cannot be exchanged for cash, and may be withdrawn or limited in number.

4. Payment

  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
  • Access is unlocked when your payment is confirmed, normally within moments.
  • If a payment is reversed, refunded in full or disputed with your bank, we may suspend your enrolment and revoke any certificate issued under it. Please contact us first — most problems are quicker to fix that way.
  • If you were charged but did not receive access, email apps@zone.net.au and we will fix it or refund you.

5. Refunds and your consumer rights

Our Refund Policy sets out our 7-day change-of-mind refund. Separately from that policy:

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (and, for customers in New Zealand, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986). You are entitled to a remedy if there is a major failure with the service, and to compensation for other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.

6. Examinations and certification

  • The LSO Certification exam draws 65 questions from a question bank, with a 90-minute time limit. A score of 75% or higher is required to pass.
  • You have 3 exam attempts per enrolment, with a 48-hour cooling period between attempts. Additional attempts may be granted at our discretion.
  • You must upload a valid photo ID before attempting the exam. It is used to verify your identity and is stored securely.
  • You must complete the exam independently. Using unauthorised assistance, sharing exam questions or any other form of dishonesty will result in revocation of your certificate and suspension of your account, without refund.
  • Failing the exam is not grounds for a refund under our change-of-mind policy.
  • Certificates are issued on successful completion and can be verified publicly using the certificate number or QR code.

7. What the certificate is — and is not

  • A certificate attests that you completed the training course and passed its assessment as at the date of issue.
  • The course is aligned with AS/NZS IEC 60825.3:2022. It is a training programme, not a government-issued licence, registration or accreditation.
  • Some states and territories (for example Queensland, Western Australia and Tasmania) have licensing or approval requirements that go beyond this course. Employers, venues and regulators may also have their own requirements. Holding a certificate does not guarantee compliance with any law or regulation.
  • The recommended review date is a guide only; the legal position in your jurisdiction may differ.
  • Certificates may be revoked if obtained through dishonest means, or if the underlying payment is reversed.

8. Intellectual property

All course content — text, quizzes, exam questions, diagrams, interactive tools and audio — is protected by copyright. Your enrolment gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use it for your own training. You may not reproduce, distribute, resell or share course materials or exam questions without our written permission.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Share your account with others or let anyone else take the exam for you.
  • Copy, screenshot or distribute exam questions.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its database or admin functions, or interfere with its operation.
  • Use automated tools to scrape course content.

10. Limitation of liability

The course is educational. We take care to keep it accurate and aligned with the standard, but laser safety remains the responsibility of the operator, the LSO and the responsible person at each event. Nothing in the course is legal advice.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, and subject to section 5, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss, injury or damage arising from reliance on the course, and our total liability to you in connection with the course is limited to the amount you paid for it. Where a consumer guarantee cannot be excluded, our liability is limited, at our option, to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, including for dishonesty, abuse or unauthorised access. You may ask us to delete your account at any time by contacting apps@zone.net.au; deleting your account ends your access and does not by itself entitle you to a refund.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new date and apply to future purchases and continued use of the site. If we make a change that materially disadvantages you on a course you have already paid for, we will tell you by email.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and the courts of Australia have jurisdiction. This does not remove any rights you have as a New Zealand consumer under New Zealand law.

14. Contact

Questions about these terms: apps@zone.net.au or info@lasers.co.nz.
